Sox reach all-star title game

The South Whidbey senior all star team won its first two games in the District 11 state qualifying tournament this week in Burlington.

Kyle Davis pitched a two hit complete game against the Oak Harbor squad in the first game, with a final score of 13 to 2. Offensive honors went to Adam Jennings, Brandon Hern and Chris Patterson, with two hits apiece. With a tremendous amount of team speed, the Red Sox stole 14 bases during the contest without being thrown out.In the second game against the home town Burlington team, the Sox built a quick 10 to 0 lead before the Burlington squad came back with nine runs of their own. Each time the Sox scored, the Burlington team would answer. The game came down to the last inning with Chris Patterson earning the save with a one-two-three inning. Offensive honors went to Danny Mulcahy, Andrew Mathis and Chris Patterson, with three hits apiece. This time the team stole 13 of 14 bases, with Adam Jennings leading the way with four and Brandon Hern with three steals.The Red Sox were the only remaining unbeaten team left in the tournament, meaning they need to win only one more game to reach the state tournament.”
