Langley resident Tucker Stevens has been appointed to fill a vacancy on the city’s Historic Preservation Commission.

Stevens was selected by Mayor Larry Kwarsick and his appointment was supported by the Langley City Council in a unanimous 4-0 vote. City Councilman Jim Sundberg was not present.

“He’ll be a great addition to the HPC,” Kwarsick said.

The seven-member advisory group’s duties are to identify and actively encourage the conservation of Langley’s historic resources and character by initiating and maintaining a register of historic places and reviewing proposed changes to such properties.

The group also works to raise community awareness of the city’s history and historic resources and serves as the city’s primary resource in matters of history, historic planning and preservation. Appointments carry a three-year term.
