SWHS ensemble wins at jazz festival

Members of the South Whidbey High School Jazz Ensemble took first place at the Lionel Hampton jazz Festival in Moscow

Members of the South Whidbey High School Jazz Ensemble recently attended the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival taking first place.

The festival took place from Feb. 26-28 in Moscow, Idaho.

The ensemble, as well as the combo, placed first in their categories.

The group is directed by Chris Harshman.

Members of the ensemble include: Garrett Poteat, Cat Ballestrasse, Mara Bush, Conor Workman, Katyrose Jordan, Annika Hustad, Kris Watson, Joe Ballestrasse, Nick Simmons, Alec Chinnery, Liam Twomey, Jason Li, Sean Miles, Kari Hustad, Chloe Hood, Jonas Anderson, Collin Burns, Tesla Dussault and Amelia Hensler.
