Ann McGinty

Ann (Annie) McGinty, 101, passed away on Nov. 12, 2008 at the Home Place in Oak Harbor.

She was born Jan. 25, 1907 in Colorado Springs, Colo., one of three children.

Ann and her family moved to Seattle in the fall of 1907 where she was raised, attending local schools and graduating from Queen Anne High School in 1925.

While attending high school she met her future husband Edwin and they were married in October 1929.

They were married 54 years when Edwin passed away in March 1984.

Upon graduating from high school and looking for a job, an automotive warehouse hired her for 30 days. Ann ended up retiring from there after 47 years.

In 1972, Ann and her husband moved to Whidbey Island (Possession Shores) after they had both retired. Ann became very active with Senior Services and spent 25 years assisting in the kitchen. During this period of time, she met and became friends with many people. This was a great joy of her life.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband Edwin; her twin brother Frank, who was a bush pilot in Alaska and lost in October 1930 while looking for a downed aircraft; and Walker, her youngest brother who died at the age of

15 due to diabetes.

Ann is survived by her son Robert and wife Adele of Clinton (Possession Shores); grandson Jeffrey and wife Julie; great-granddaughter Kerri and great-grandson Craig of Poulsbo; granddaughter Karen McQuillan and husband Chuck, great-granddaughters Jennifer and Jessica of Silverdale.

By Ann’s request, she was cremated and her ashes will be scattered in Saratoga Passage to be reunited with her late husband.

No other services will be held.
