Ardath Lorenson

Surrounded by her family in the intensive care room at Providence Hospital in Everett, a very special lady named Ardath Lorenson lost a courageous and valiant 17-year fight against cancer, Sept. 25, 2008.

Ardath was born June 8, 1939 in Seattle. She graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1957, and the University of Washington in 1961 with a degree from the school of communications. Ardath was a gifted writer and communicator.

Ardath was an information gatherer. She enjoyed school, books, studying and learning. And, if asked, she would pass along her interpretation of this knowledge to her friends.

Ardath loved the salt air, the seashore, seasons, flowers, beauty, family, friends, neighbors, music, reading, cats, the Huskies, her dad and mom, drama, sports, Tiger and watching golf, writing, talking, quiet times, parties and her birthday. She was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Garnet Southerland.

Ardath is survived by her husband and soul mate Tom Lorenson, her sister Kathy Beck, daughter Shelly Southwick, son Michael Sarin, grandchildren Heather, Tony, Nicholas and Julia; also great-grandchildren Layne and Layla.

At her request, there will be no formal memorial service or funeral. She requested that any remembrances be given to the Whidbey Island Animal Improvement Foundation.
