Betty Redmond

Betty Louise Redmond passed away on April 4, 2011.

She was born May 20, 1916 in Wallace, Idaho.

Betty graduated from Everett School High in 1934. In 1940 she married the love of her life, Russell Redmond, in Mount Vernon. They shared more than 60 years of adventures together on numerous cruises around the world and annual winters in Hawaii, before Russ’s passing five years ago.

Their home at Bush Point on Whidbey Island was always known for hospitality and love for those of us lucky enough to have been invited there. Betty was a wonderful hostess, who always made her guests at home, and we all loved to eat her delicious meals. Betty called Bush Point home for the last

40 years of her life. If I were to use one word to describe Betty, it would be “kind.” She was the kindest person I have ever known. She had a personality that matched her brilliant red hair. She was always on the move.

Betty leaves behind many family members and friends who will miss her dearly — brother Charles McDonnell and her nephews Matt and Jeff of Oregon; niece Midge Shannon (Butch) of Bothell, dear friends Larry and Dawn Howard of Bush Point, Donald Sackrider of Key Biscayne, Fla. and Shelle and Steven Sawyer of Marysville.

The family would like to thank Sari Spieler, Betty’s caregiver, for all the love and support she gave to Betty over the last five years.

A celebration of her life will be held this summer at Bush Point, when all can come together and remember this remarkable lady. Thank you, Betty, for being such a sweet part of our lives.
