Beulah Louise North

Beulah Louise (Mickey) North departed this earth peacefully Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007 at Careage Nursing home in Coupeville.

Mickey was born on June 5, 1912, in Atchison, Kansas, the daughter of Edgar and Melvina (Wilson) Richmond. She married Alva A. Berry in 1927. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two husbands and one great-grandchild.

Survivors include daughters, Rosa Lee Furman and JoAnn Neely of Clinton; sons, Charles E. Berry, Rushville, Mo., Robert Johnson, Everett, Bill Cannon Austin, Texas, and Jim North, Tacoma; 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 39 great-great grandchildren and two great-great-great grandchildren; one niece, Martha Borkowski and family of South Bend, Ind.; nephews, John Richmond and family of Albany, Mo. and Jim Richmond and family; and a host of friends.

Mickey lived at Brookhaven in Langley for 21 years. During her life she enjoyed baking, sewing, knitting, dancing, bowling (until age 70) and bingo.

Many of Whidbey Island’s residents knew her as “Grandma.” She will be missed by all.

A visitation was held Monday evening and a celebration of life was held Tuesday evening at the Progressive Hall in Clinton.
