Bonnie Jean (Jones) Keene

September 11, 1943 – February 18, 2025

Bonnie Jean Keene passed away peacefully at Whidbey Health Medical Center in Coupeville, WA on February 18, 2025, surrounded by her family after a brief illness. She was 81.

Bonnie was born to John Earl Jones Jr. and Ruth Mae (Rhodes) Jones in Corning, NY on September 11, 1943. Bonnie married Robert “Bob” Leone Keene on July 3, 1980, in Dansville, NY. Bonnie grew up in New York and later moved to Whidbey Island in Washington State with Bob to be closer to her daughters and grandchildren. She enjoyed working as a home health aid and caring for individuals in their homes. She and Bob also shared a love of Gardening. Bob preceded her in death in 2016.

She moved to Assisted Living in Oak Harbor, Washington a few years ago and truly loved the many friends, social activities, and all aspects of her time there. She carried her health aid skills with her as she tried to help anyone there as she could. She truly enjoyed her time helping the Activities Director, Amy Chisholm with all the many activities Amy provides to the residents at Summerhill. Amy’s kindness, caring, and love benefit all the residents daily. Our family is eternally grateful to Miss Amy.

Special thanks to Dr. Omar Naji and nurses Jason, Anna, and Chantel at Whidbey Health Medical Center in Coupeville for the superb comfort and care provided to our beloved mother and family.

Bonnie leaves behind her daughters Lisa (Donald) Wood and Tricia Nielsen of Langley, WA. Grand children Phillip Schenck of Naples, NY, Allison (Spencer) McKinnon of Everett, WA, Brittany (Chandler) Carlsen of Langley, WA, Thomas Nielsen and Joseph Nielsen both of Freeland, WA. She also leaves behind her siblings Peggy McNeill of Lindley, NY; Paul Jones of Lindley, NY; Daniel (Christina) Jones of Lindley, NY; Betty (Hugh Jackson) Jones of Addison, NY; and Timothy Jones of Woodhull, NY.
