Cory Harding

Son, grandson, brother, friend, husband and father Cory Christopher Harding was born in Seattle Jan. 23, 1977, to Raymond C. Harding and Lorinda Haman Harding. He died peacefully at his home in Boise, Idaho, on July 15, 2005, after a nearly three-year battle with brain cancer.

Cory was educated in Bellevue public schools, graduating in 1995 from Sammamish High School, where he recently attended his 10th-year class reunion.

Cory received a bachelor of arts degree from Western Washington University in 2000, where he turned the art curriculum inside-out to create his own major, new media.

At Western he met his wife to be, Kate McFarland. They moved to Boise five years ago, where he worked as a 3-D designer and programmer.

Cory is survived by his wife, his 2-year-old daughter, Langley Claire; his parents; his brothers, Matt Harding of Bellevue and Drew Harding of Los Angeles, Calif.; his grandparents, Ray and Phyllis Haman of Langley; and R.L. “Bud” and Norma Harding of Bellevue; and his aunt, Deborah Bovee of Seattle.

Whidbey Island was a family retreat for Cory throughout his lifetime. Many visitors to Choochokam will remember the years when Cory and his brothers turned their grandparents’ property in Langley into a parking area.

Cory and Kate’s love of Langley led them to name their daughter after his grandparents’ hometown; and at his request, he will be laid to rest at the Langley Woodmen Cemetery in a private service.

A celebration of Cory’s life will be held at 7 p.m. Aug. 12, in the little chapel at Bellevue First Presbyterian Church, 1717 Bellevue Way NE.

As Cory requested, please wear casual bright-colored clothing.

Remembrances may be sent to a favorite charity or to Oregon Health Science University Foundation, MS/45, P.O. Box 4000, Portland, OR 97208-9852 to further brain cancer research at OHSU.
