Donna Mae (Kenney) Schmidt passed away on July 7, 2021 at age 90. Donna was born in 1930 to Walter and Yvette Kenney of Seattle, Wash. When Donna was a young teen, her parents purchased Sunrise Beach Resort in Langley, Wash., and she became an island girl. She graduated from Langley High school in 1948. In 1950, She married Martin Schmidt, her high school sweetheart. Together they had a busy life of family, work and travel.

After the death of her husband, she continued to pursue her love of travel, making it to Hawaii, England, Ireland, Germany, Mexico, Canada, as well as, many “in country” flights and road trips.

She was an avid reader and word meister and passed the love of literature down to her children.

Donna always made everyone feel welcome in her home and wanted to keep everyone well fed. Her home became a safety net for all of her children and her children’s children.

She had a long and beautiful life. Thanks to her daughter Kelly, she was able to stay in her own home until her last days. She will be missed. She was loved by many people and she loved many people.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Martin Schmidt (1983)

She is survived by her five children, Sue Johnson (Barry Johnson), Terry Schmidt (Emily Schmidt), Mike Schmidt, Jodi Schmidt (Steven Kaiser), and Kelly Schmidt (Karen Korbelik); 10 grandchildren, Candace, Erin, Alisha, Stephanie, Shannyn, Vynessa, Jackie, Martin, Sean and Lilly; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.
