Hazel E. Watkins

Hazel E. Watkins of Langley passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2008 at Careage of Whidbey with her great-grandson Kyle Gabelein by her side. She was a mom, grandmother, great-grandmother and great -great -grandmother.

She married my dad, George M. Watkins on June 21, 1930 in Hayward, Calif. They were married for

57 years.

She was preceded in death by her son, husband, four sisters, one brother and her loving son-in-law. She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Gabelein of Lone Lake; grandchildren, Peggy (Jerry) Johnson, Les (Kathie) Gabelein, Bob (Tina) Gabelein all of Lone Lake, Melanie (Mark) Erickson of Missoula, Mont., and Rob Watkins of Indiana; great-grandchildren, Chris (Stacy) Johnson of Lone Lake, Katie (Kelly) Westgard of Sunlight Beach, Scott Gabelein of Seattle, Haley (JJ) Griffin, JR. of Georgia, Michael Johnson of California, Kyle, Loren, Derrel Gabelein of Langley, Cara Gabelein of Coupeville, Kelsey and Amy Erickson and Chris Watkins of Indiana; great-great grandchildren Cortni and Raelyn Westgard and Madisen Gabelein of Langley.

Mom worked as a telephone operator for 20 years before moving to Whidbey Island. She then went to work at the Bayview Cash Store until she retired in 1972. She was very active in the senior center, had many friends and enjoyed her life on Whidbey.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6 at the Assembly of God Church in Langley.
