Hinkey Minear
Published July 24, 2006
Hinkey Minear was born on July 21, 1936, in Seattle and died on July 24, 2006 at her home in Freeland.
She was a Whidbey Island resident for 11 years. She leaves four children, Debora (Tom) Niebruegge, Todd (Lana) Wilson, Scott Wilson and Kim (Mike) Wilson; brothers, Jim Kauffman and Joel (Patricia) Kauffman; grandchildren, Zack, Bret, Kelsey, Stina, Bryan, Colton, Angelina, Jamie, Mandy, Jeff, Angel, David, Sarah, Carly and Jake; and great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Trinity and Ramon – who they referred to her as Ma-Moo.
She lived life to the fullest, laughed hard, and had many friends.
Hinki loved to go clamming, ride her four wheeler and jet ski. She was a fun-loving and wild woman. We remember her inviting 150 of her closest friends and family to a luau at her beach house. That is what she loved — people having fun, laughing, dancing and eating.
Anyone who visited her got to see “The Eagle Lady” in action. She would go out to the beach and would yell “Caw! Caw!” and up would pop four eagles from Double Bluff. The eagles would circle above her waiting their turn, as she threw turkey legs into the air. Down they would soar, and grab it with their talons, and off they flew, to enjoy their meal.
She will be missed very much by friends and family.
At her request, no services will be held. Remembrances may be made to Ryther Child Center League, Mardi Unit, President Susanne Paulson, 619 First St., Langley, WA 98260.
Arrangements are under the direction of Visser Funeral Home.
