James Sullivan

James Joseph Sullivan, 56, was born in Trenton, N.J. on Sept. 2, 1949. Following a long illness, he died peacefully at his home in Langley, surrounded by family and friends on Oct. 21, 2005.
James and his wife and daughter moved from New Jersey to Whidbey Island in 1992.
James made his living in the newspaper industry. He worked for The New York Times for many years. He finished his career working for the Seattle Times as the new media Internet account manager.
After his wife and daughter, his two great loves were music and fly fishing. James began playing guitar in his early teens. His love of music culminated with the completion of his first blues CD, “Last Call.”
James was preceded in death by his adoptive parents, Edna and Jim Sullivan of North Plainfield, N.J.
James is survived by his wife of 28 years, Terri Sullivan, and his daughter, Jamie Noelle Sullivan. James is also survived by his parents Pat and Tom Thomas; brothers Steve, Mike, Joe and Rob Thomas and their families; his mother-in-law, Tess Jamison; and brother-in-law, Bill Jamison of New Jersey.
James will be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend to many others.
A memorial service open to the public will be held at noon Sunday, Oct. 30, at Visser Funeral Home in Langley.
In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to W.A.I.F. Animal Shelter or the Seattle Union Gospel Mission.
