Leanne Robinson Donelan: Aug. 14, 1948 – May 21, 2019

Leanne Robinson Donelan of Langley, Wash., passed away on May 21, 2019 at age 70.

Leanne was born on Aug. 14, 1948 at Fort Lewis in Washington to William “Ralph” Moore Robinson and Marlene Jean Robinson.

Leanne has three younger sisters, Cynthia Robinson, Nancy Holzinger and Roberta Petersen, and several nieces and nephews.

An army dependent, Leanne lived in many places with her family over her life including Florida, Texas, Germany, and Japan, and California.

In 1966, Leanne attended Ventura College in California.

In between classes, she would visit with other students, including people who served in our armed services.

Leanne met Larry Lee Donelan, a U.S. Army veteran, at Ventura College. Leanne and Larry married in 1967 and celebrated their 52nd anniversary in August 2018.

Leanne and Larry had two children, Landon Marcus Donelan and Lara Anne Donelan.

Leanne and Larry lived in Oxnard, Calif., for over 35 years. In 1992, Leanne and Larry’s daughter, Lara, married Geoffrey Thomas. Leanne had two grandsons, Andrew Thomas and William Thomas. Leanne and Larry moved to Langley, Wash., in 2003 to be closer to Lara, Lara’s family, and Leanne’s family in Seattle.

For most of her career, Leanne worked as a manager in retail and retired from Robinsons-May Co. in 2003.

Leanne enjoyed spending time with Larry, Lara, and her grandsons. She enjoyed sailing, arts and crafts, traveling, cooking, genealogy, movies, history, music, and coffee. Leanne and Larry visited the Cook Islands several times with a their running club known the “Hash Harriers.”

Leanne was known as “shady lady,” because she would seek out shelter from the tropical heat in the shade at the Cook Islands.

In later years, they spent vacations in Hawaii, Victoria, and the Southwest.

While living in Langley, Leanne became involved in the Daughters of Norway Ester Moe Lodge #39. Leanne enjoyed preparing crafts for the annual Nordic Fest.

Leanne was a generous, loving, compassionate person.

Her family and friends are blessed to have had Leanne in their lives. Leanne Robinson Donelan will be kept in our memories and in our hearts.
