Mary Elizabeh (Betty) Cassel Hargitt, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009.

She was born April 2, 1922, in Seattle to James Arthur Cassel and Mary Lillian Cassel.

She graduated from Queen Anne High School and married Miles Leroy Hargitt on March 17, 1941.

In her 87 years, she has worn many different hats. She was a wife, mother, first mate on tugboats, shop owner, grandmother and great-grandmother. She also has several great-great-grandchildren. She was a Freeland resident for more than 15 years.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Miles, and her 10 children, Charles, Carol, Ron, Lance, Bruce, Janet, Lawrence, Lesley, Daryl and Mark.

A celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28 at the Assembly of God Church, on 29th and

J streets in Anacortes.

She will be sadly missed by all.
