Melvin Ray Ogden Sr. passed away on Oct. 25, 2010 in Coupeville.

He was born in March 1926 in Galeburg, Kan. to Jesse Ogden and Edna Locke.

Melvin was married to Frances M. Smith on Jan. 23, 1947. They had three children, Melvin R. Ogden Jr. (deceased), Linda M. Long and James F. Ogden.

He is survived by his sister, Evelyn Leonard, of Shelton; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Melvin worked for Bethlehem Steel and for the Highland School District. He moved to South Whidbey in 1967 and lived at Midvale, where he helped his sons in their lock shop. He raised goats, and loved farming and living on Whidbey Island.

As a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he will be greatly missed with loving memories.
