Muriel Henderson

Muriel Capp Henderson passed away peacefully Jan. 27, 2013, at Home Place in Oak Harbor, at the age of 91. Born Nov. 25, 1991 in Seattle to Lloyd and Margarite Capp, her childhood years were spent in Seattle and Indianola, Wash. She graduated as Valedictorian from Lincoln High School in 1939, and was a member of Delta Gamma at the University of Washington, where she graduated in Home Economics in 1943.

She married James “Dean” Henderson, Jr. on May 21, 1943. Their war years were spent in Barstow, Calif. Upon their return, they raised their family on Queen Anne Hill, and spent glorious summers in Indianola. She and Dean retired to Whidbey Island in 1987, and later to Cristwood Retirement Center, Shoreline, in 2003. Muriel returned to Whidbey Island for her later years.

She was an active member of Bethany Presbyterian Church on Queen Anne and Langley United Methodist Church. Her life was dedicated to her family, her numerous friends and her volunteer work with the Seattle Milk Fund. A Washington Husky through and through, she rarely missed a football game. Muriel entertained effortlessly and often, and greeted every situation with grace and a welcoming smile.

She will be greatly missed by her three sons, Jim (Char) of Freeland, John (Sally) of Sheboygan, Wisc., and Jeff (Joan) of Indianola; a daughter, Julie Stein of Freeland; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and her brother Lloyd Capp, Jr. Muriel was precded in death by her husband of 61 years Dean, son-in-law Steve Stein, and great-granddaughter Anika Fritsch.

A memorial celebration will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16 at Beck’s Funeral Home, 405 — 5th Ave. S., Edmonds. Remembrances to Hospice of the NW Foundation, PO Box 1376, Mt.
