Ned Frank Babcock

Ned Frank Babcock, 83, peacefully passed away while at home, July 11, 2007.
He was born on Jan. 27, 1924 in Anaconda, Mont. to Anna and Ray Babcock. Preceding him in death was his son, Douglas Ray Babcock, brother Bill Pellegrini, brother Wes Babcock and brother Dave Babcock.
Surviving Ned is his loving wife, Jean Babcock; sister, Margaret Pephyrs; brother, Johnny Pellegrini; brother, Walt Babcock; daughter, Sandra Hummell; son, Randall Babcock; granddaughter, Cheryl Richards; grandson, Sean Hummell; and great-grandchildren, Taylor Richards, Haley Richards and Asia Norman and many nieces and nephews.
Ned joined the Navy in 1942 and retired in 1962. During his tour of duty he was stationed on the West Coast; respectfully California and Seattle.
Ned married Betty (Penny) Gale on July 1, 1944. Born to them were Sandra, Douglas and Randall.
Ned retired at Whidbey Island. He then worked for Civil Service and retired from there.
Ned continued making his home in Oak Harbor for the past 40-plus years. His interests included drawing, bowling and dancing.
Ned married Jean Hoover Sept. 30, 2000 at Langley CMA Church. They were greeters until the day he died. This was the love of his life, greeting, welcoming and hugging all who entered for worship.
His great passion was to serve the Lord gladly every day of his life and he did. Ned’s Memorial Service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 28 at Langley CMA Church, Sixth and Cascade streets, Langley.
