Robert A. Leonardt

Bob Leonardt, dearly loved husband, father and devoted grandfather, passed away on April 30, 2009 after a brief battle with leukemia. He was 76 years old.

Born in New Orleans, La. on Nov. 10, 1932, Bob later moved to Oklahoma City, Okla. where he graduated from high school.

He then attended the University of Oklahoma where he was a four-year All American swimmer. He graduated from the university and was a loyal follower of the OU Sooners.

During the Korean War, Bob served in the Navy as a frogman.

Bob’s love for adventure and travel took him to all corners of the world in various management positions with TWA, Pan American World Airways and Alaska Airlines. He retired in 1995. He told wonderful stories of special assignments in Teheran, Beirut and in Asia.

1n 1997, Bob and his wife Nancy Cooper moved to Whidbey Island where he built their dream home overlooking Puget Sound. He loved working on the house, their gardens and running after Buster, his adored black Lab.

He is survived by his wife Nancy; daughter Dawn McCullen and her son Brandon; stepdaughter Jennifer Harman, her husband Steve and their children Cole and Helen; and stepson Brett Cooper, his wife Susan and their son Nick.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held this summer.
