Troy Michael Hawkins: July 29th 1954 – March 21st 2024

Troy passed away peacefully at home after a courageous and valiant fight against cancer. He was surrounded by family and close friends in his final days. He was a believer in Jesus Christ and was baptized with his brother Rocky and Grandson Ison in September 2023.

Troy is survived by his Wife Janie Hawkins.They were married for 36 years. His children Greg Buzzell (Amy) of Millcreek, WA, Robert Hawkins of Langley, WA, Gretchen Stanton of Seattle, WA, Jennifer Buzzell of Seattle, WA and Hunter Hawkins (Kelsey) of Renton, WA. Troy had 4 grandsons Justin Shoemaker, Rein Buzzell, Ison Ho and Czarvin Buzzell. Troy was looking forward to meeting his granddaughter who will be born this fall. Troy was also survived by his Siblings, Paula Hawkins-Johnson (Dan) Jackie Hawkins (Dan) Rocky Hawkins (Sallie), Warren Hawkins. Many nieces and nephews in Washington and Oregon.

Troy was proceeded in death by his Father, Paul Thurmon Hawkins, his mother, Lucy Mable Blum, his brothers Paul Kevin Hawkins and Willis Therman Hawkins.

Troy was born in Fresno California and grew up in Albany Oregon and Aberdeen Washington before settling in on Whidbey Island in 1986.

Troy worked in the Timber industry in his early career days logging cedar outside of Aberdeen Wa, the “Lumber Capital of the World”. He moved to Whidbey Island in 1986 to be near his brother, Rocky and began his career in the ship building industry, working at Nichols Brothers Boat Builders, Dakota Creek Ship Yard and a few years at Boeing but returned to Nichols to finish his career.

Troy enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing, camping and riding his 4 wheeler.

Troy was known for helping friends and family when they were in need.

A memorial service to honor Troy will be held on April 27th at 2pm at South Whidbey Assembly of God church in Langley, WA. A small reception to follow. We look forward to celebrating Troy’s life with you.
