Gritty loss for South Whidbey girls

South Whidbey’s defense held tough against Meridian in a 27-23 loss Wednesday night.
The Falcons committed more turnovers than they made field goals, but held with the Trojans until the fourth quarter.
South Whidbey’s offense practically vanished in the final period in which the Falcons scored only three points on a free throw and a layup.
The game went back and forth for much of the night, with neither team leading by more than six points. Falcon junior Abby Hodson put her team ahead in the third quarter on a long pass from senior Madi Boyd.
