Ireland posts best time in latest meet / Swimming

South Whidbey High School’s Abigail Ireland recorded the best time in the 100-yard freestyle when the Kamiak swim team hosted Mountlake Terrace Tuesday, Oct. 22.

Ireland clocked a 1:06.94; Falcon Katie Zundel had the third-best time in the event, 1:09.66.

Ireland was also sixth in the 200 free (2:29.06), while Zundel took fourth in the 50 free (31.3).

Ashley Lynch posted the second-best time in the 500 free (6:12.61) and he third-best in the 200 free (2:12.58). She also joined three Kamiak swimmers to register the best time in the 400-free relay (5:18.05).

Parker Forsyth was fourth in the 100 butterfly (1:12.72), Sarah Zundel took eighth in the 100 fly (1:32.23) and 10th in the 200 individual medley (3:07.15), and Devin King was ninth in the fly (1:40.97) and 10th in the 500 free (7:49.32).

The Zundels, Forsyth and King earned the fifth-best time in the 200-medley relay (2:24.16); and Forsyth, Ireland, King and Lynch were seventh in the 200 free relay (2:05.87).

Kamiak goes to Jackson at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, for the final regular season meet.
