Rally comes up short in Falcon fastpitch rivalry with Wolves

South Whidbey softball remained winless after a narrow 11-8 loss to rival Coupeville on Monday.

The Falcons tied the game in the fifth inning at 5-5. But the Wolves surged ahead in the sixth with six runs and fended off a seventh-inning Falcon rally to alllow only two more runs for South Whidbey (0-9 Cascade Conference; 0-9 overall).

Mackenzie Hezel pitched through two innings before senior Alex Kubeska relieved her in the third.

Haley Viers and Kubeska recorded doubles and Kubeska knocked a triple.
