Driver who hit deer should have done more to help

Editor,

To the person who struck a deer at about 10:40 a.m. Sunday morning on East Saratoga Roadd less than one mile from Langley, then left him in the middle of the road with 2 broken legs trying valiantly to crawl to the roadside… why? Couldn’t you have humanely handled the situation?

We came upon the scene, phoned 911, and waited for the deputy to arrive to end its suffering. I wish you could have seen the fright and sadness in those beautiful doe eyes. There are basics of humane behavior which I believe we all should adhere to, and a phone call to the authorities would not be too much to ask.
