Zaretzke said the previous high temperature was 84 degrees on May 17.

It was a bit cooler on the rest of Whidbey on the record-setting day of June 29. A high of 78 was reported in Greenbank and near Coupeville, and a high of 77 was recorded in West Beach. Coupeville hit 78.

The island is expected to see slightly cooler weather this weekend. According to the National Weather Service in Seattle, the weekend weather is expected to be mostly sunny.

On Saturday, the temperature is expected to hit 70 degrees, and on Sunday, forecasters predict a high near 72.
