The South Whidbey Parks and Recreation District has established a memorandum of understanding with the Port of South Whidbey, Island County and the City of Langley.

Doug Coutts, parks director, informed district commissioners that the document had been approved by all parties and the agreement is now in effect.

Commissioners had reviewed a draft of the document at a board meeting in December, and had discussed it further at a second meeting in January.

The memorandum of understanding is very general, and states that all groups will cooperate to provide mutual aid, largely a sharing of knowledge and resources. It may include money-saving tactics such as group purchasing as well.
