Island County Commissioner Angie Homola has not filed to run for re-election in 2012.

That’s the view of the Washington State Public Disclosure Commission, the state agency that serves as a watchdog on campaigns.

Homola, a Democrat, sent out a news release on Nov. 21 that said she had filed to run for a second term.

The Public Disclosure Commission, however, has not made her candidate registration form —  which includes information on the candidate’s treasurer, campaign officials, location of campaign contribution books and other reporting requirements — available on the commission’s website.

That’s because the PDC does not have Homola’s filing form, according to Lori Anderson, a commission staff member.

Anderson guessed that Homola had trouble e-filing the paperwork, and said the commission would contact her later Tuesday on the issue.

Homola told the Record in an email Friday that she had submitted her candidacy registration form electronically “on Friday November 19th, it was around 11:00 at night.”

She received the unanimous endorsement of the Island County Democrats and the 10th Legislative District Democrats at back-to-back meetings in Oak Harbor on Saturday morning, Nov. 19.

According to the Island County Democrats website, Homola filed her re-election papers on Nov. 18 (which was last Friday) and received the ICD endorsement during a quick, 10-minute meeting Saturday at San Remo Mediterranean Grill.

That meeting was followed by the 10th Legislative District Democrats meeting at the restaurant, and Homola received a second, unanimous endorsement.

Homola was first elected in 2008 following a contentious campaign against incumbent Republican Mac McDowell.

She is the only candidate who has publicly expressed interest in a run for the District 2 seat next November.
