Robert William McVeigh

Robert William McVeigh, 78, of Lacey, Wash., passed away Aug. 13, 2016. He was born Nov. 30, 1937, in Hudson, Wisc., to Samuel and Rachel McVeigh.

Robert William (known as Bob) was preceded in death by his parents; three siblings, Anita, Willda and Jim; and a daughter, Jamie.

He is survived by his children, Linda (Charles), Robert (Barbara), Jay (Sylvia), Lisa, Lisa (Brian), Shallon and Corie (Kelly); numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and sisters, Mary, Sara (Wray) and Grace (Chuck).

He attended Langley High School in the 1950s and served in the United States Army.

He enjoyed auto-racing (both watching and driving), boating and fishing.

After his time in the Army he returned to Langley, where he worked as a lumber truck driver for Waterman’s Mill. Leaving Whidbey Island, he operated his own trucking company for over 40 years out of the Olymia/Lacey area. Bob retired in 2007 and spent his time enjoying his family and friends.
