Baseball team tastes victory

The Falcon baseball team finally enjoyed the sweet taste of victory with an 8-6 win over Sultan in the first game of a rain-shortened double header at South Whidbey Thursday.

The Falcon baseball team finally enjoyed the sweet taste of victory with an 8-6 win over Sultan in the first game of a rain-shortened double header at South Whidbey Thursday.

South Whidbey sandwiched four runs in the first and four runs in the sixth between a string of zeroes to gain the winning edge. Aaron Curfman went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs batted in a sixth inning rally, which earned the team its first victory of the season. Jay Leverett added four hits, four RBI and two runs scored for Sultan.

Cameran Wildes was the winning pitcher for South Whidbey.

Sultan took the win in game two, breezing to a 14-1 victory in a shortened game to earn the split. Turk pitcher Jay Leverett struck out nine in five innings and drove in three at the plate.

Jack Lewis smacked a home run to account for South Whidbey’s only run.
