Falcons shut down Oak Harbor / Soccer

It was a bright present and future for the South Whidbey soccer team in its 5-0 rout of visiting Oak Harbor Thursday, March 15.

The Falcons zipped to a 4-0 first-half lead, and then midway through the second half, coach Emerson Robbins had five freshmen on the field at one time as the youngest Falcons kept the Wildcats off the board.

Robbins called the defense, led by Lake Smith, “stellar,” as his club did not allow a single shot on goal.

Silas Batiste scored two goals for the Falcons, and Michael Lux, Graham Colar and Aidan O’Brien added one each.

Batiste also recorded an assist, along with Ari Rohan, Joey Lane and Thomas Simms.

“It’s difficult to name all of the stand out players in this game, as we had so many play well,” Robbins said. “Suffice it to say, I was very proud of the way our guys played. We played unselfishly with constant one- and two-touch passing and aggressive shut-down defense.”

South Whidbey (1-0-1) goes to Archbishop Thomas Murphy (0-0-1) for a 6 p.m. match Tuesday, March 20.
