Granite Falls buries Falcons early / Softball

The game was all but over after one inning as the visiting Granite Falls softball team defeated South Whidbey High School 20-3 in five innings in the conference opener Thursday, March 21.

The Tigers scored 15 runs in the first inning and “coasted after that,” South Whidbey coach Brad Jaeger said. “We did hold them to only five over the next four innings, but the damage was done.”

One of the few bright spots was a long blast off the center field fence by South Whidbey’s Channel Sterba.

The Falcons (0-1, 2-3) host unbeaten Mount Baker (5-0) at 4 p.m. Monday, March 25, in a non-league game.
