Museum hosts holiday events

The Island County Historical Society hosts two holiday events in the month of December, including a new event called “Christmas In Our Town, 1853.†Also featured: the ever-popular “Holiday Home Tour.â€
Starting at 6 p.m. tonight, “Christmas In Our Town, 1853†is being conducted as a companion event to the current ICHS Museum exhibit, “Our Towns,†which details the history of many island towns — those still present and some that have faded away — by using items from the museum’s collection which have not been on display for years. “Christmas In Our Town, 1853: will debut after Coupeville’s Greening Day Parade and Lighting of the Trees at Cook Park.
And from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, the historical society has arranged an extraordinary line-up for its 14th annual Holiday Home Tour. Homes on the tour include the Marshall House, with its “snow village†displays, the Methodist Parsonage, the Dr. White House, and the Burnhart House.
Tickets are $17 per person which includes a discount for museum admission and are available at the museum on the day of the tour. The self-guided tour is a fundraiser for the ICHS Museum and admission and/or donations are tax-deductible.
