Everett Youth Symphony selects South Whidbey musicians

Three young musicians from South Whidbey have been chosen to play with the Everett Youth Symphony Orchestras.

The Everett Youth Symphony Orchestras has announced its selection of young string players who will participate in the symphony’s 2008-09 concert season. Viola musician Bethany Stringer and violinist Mira Yamamoto, both of Clinton, were selected for ensembles along with Christopher Anderson, a violinist from Langley.

The organization includes four separate ensembles. Anderson will play with the “Prelude Strings” symphony while Stringer and Yamamoto will play in the “Youth Symphony.”

“Each orchestra offers different challenges to meet the skill levels of participants,” said Tam Osborne, artistic director of the orchestras. “Pieces we practice and perform range from simple string arrangements to highly complex symphonies.”
