LANGLEY – Lynden took a late lead and made just enough free throws to force a desperate three-point shot by South Whidbey in a 46-43 victory.
The win extended the Lions’ season to the District 1 playoffs Friday and ended the Falcons’ bid for their first post-season game in several years.
The Lions were led by a pair of seniors – Kortney Grattic scored 19 points and Amber Stokes had 16 points.
South Whidbey saw the return of senior team captain Jessica Manca who suffered a concussion two weeks earlier. She led the Falcons with 12 points and was helped by junior Ellie Greene with 10 and junior Hayley Newman with eight.
