Rob Schouten Gallery offers mixed media

During August, the gallery will feature the acrylic and mixed media paintings of Karin Bolstad and the mixed media sculptures of Dan Freeman.
A professional sculptor since 1972, Freeman’s work is shown throughout the Northwest. Freeman describes his work as “dreaming with my eyes open.” Using elements found in nature combined with the textures of glass and steel, his creations celebrate the whole of human experience.
“My work is a continuing self-portrait. It’s human. It’s what holds me together — a little bit of color and tension,” Freeman said.
Bolstad’s lush paintings are done with acrylic paint and mixed media inclusions and are rich in symbolism.
“The paintings I am exhibiting illustrate how challenges are growth opportunities, using the archetypal Hero’s Journey and Dante’s classic ‘The Divine Comedy’ as the framework, and fueled by my own personal experiences,” Bolstad said.
This exhibition will open in conjunction with First Fridays at the Farm Art and Wine Walk from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3. The artists will be in attendance and all can enjoy the electric cello of Siri Bardarson.
