Mary Lou Harris recently stood atop Washington’s highest peak. The Freeland resident summited Mount Rainier, all 14,00-plus feet of it.

Harris climbed the volcano Aug. 5 as part of the Climb to Fight Breast Cancer put on by the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. She raised over $5,800 for breast cancer research, which can still be donated to online at http://getinvolved.fhcrc.org/goto/mlharris.

“Even with power breathing, I still had a bad headache and was feeling quite light headed,” Harris wrote on her blog.
