A discussion involving the possible pursuit of a bond for athletics and arts will be had at South Whidbey School District’s board of directors retreat from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Aug. 26 in the Elementary School Community Room.
The retreat is open to the public.
The retreat will kick off at noon with a discussion of how the board of education operates, according to Superintendent Jo Moccia.
Moccia said the retreat will include information on board operating protocols, what it takes to file applications with the Washington State School Director’s Association to find out if the board is of distinction, and appropriate board actions for certain scenarios.
The board and administrators will meet at 4 p.m. to discuss the bond — and the potential for a turf field at the high school — and any other points of interest regarding the upcoming school year.
The administration will begin the 2015-16 school year on Sept. 3. Students begin classes on Sept. 8.
