Letter: Quick, professional EMTs save life after a blood clot emergency

Published 1:30 am Tuesday, August 7, 2018

Editor,

I would like to thank the local EMTs who helped save my life on Sunday, March 4. Unfortunately, I do not know their names. My hope is that they will read this letter, or that someone shares this letter with them.

The EMTs carefully loaded me into the ambulance, after my husband, Jim, called 911 and reported that I was unresponsive. I had been home for only a few days after kidney surgery. I was quickly transported to the emergency department at Providence Medical Center in Everett. My test results showed that I was in kidney and liver failure, and had developed blood clots in my lungs and legs. Without the EMTs’ quick, professional and comforting assistance, I would not have survived. I am blessed to be getting stronger every day.

We are fortunate to have such well trained and compassionate EMTs available to us on South Whidbey. Words cannot express how thankful I am.
