Falcons return to winning ways / Volleyball

Winning for the second time this week, the South Whidbey High School volleyball team jumped back on the right track, moved into a tie for second place and built some momentum for Monday’s showdown with rival Coupeville.

South Whidbey started the season with four straight wins, then hit a rough patch, losing four of the next five matches.

A pair of 3-0 wins this week, the latest Thursday at home with Sultan, moved South Whidbey (4-2, 7-4) into a tie for second place with Coupeville (4-2, 7-2).

The two Whidbey schools square off at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, in Coupeville.

South Whidbey walloped Sultan 25-12, 25-14, 25-13.

Emma Leggett led the offense with 13 kills. Emma Hodson had seven kills and three aces, Alyssa Ludtke had six kills and Chloe Johnson dished out 29 assists.

Defensively, Leggett and Ludtke recorded four digs.
