Letter: WIN’s annual fundraiser in Langley a big success

Des Rock rocks again.

On Saturday March 23, Whidbey Island Nourishes, or WIN, held its annual fundraiser dinner, Heart to Heart, at the Useless Bay Coffee Co. in Langley.

With a Valentine’s Day theme, it was postponed from Feb. 9 due to snow, but the heart theme was carried over by the kids in South Whidbey Elementary school with their charming, colorful and engaging decorations.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Des Rock and his staff for hosting our Heart to Heart fundraiser, supplying the food and preparing a delicious gourmet dinner for the event, which is ever so important in helping WIN with the growing monthly cost of feeding kids on South Whidbey who need nutritious food.

WIN is a volunteer-powered, nonprofit organization dedicated to nourishing youth by providing no-cost, ready-to-eat, healthy meals.

We depend on funding from generous community support, grantors and organizations. Currently we are preparing almost 3,000 meals each month and our numbers are growing. Our website is whidbeyislandnourishes.org
