Fire Wednesday morning results in minor damage, slight injuries

A small fire scorched the side of a South Whidbey home late Wednesday morning and caused minor injuries, according to South Whidbey Fire/EMS.
Firefighters responded to a report of a blaze at an Owl Haven Lane home around 11:45 a.m. on Jan. 13.
Jon Gabelein, the fire department’s public information officer, said responders were on the scene for about three hours extinguishing the fire, dealing with hot spots and salvaging many of the resident’s possessions, which were kept from being damaged.
The resident, he said, did receive some minor burns during his quick actions that slowed the spread of the fire.
The flames were contained to some walls and part of the house’s attic.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time, but it may have possibly started along an outside wall.
