Letter: Read ‘Rise and Fall of the Third Reich’ instead

Most of the political letters to the editor don’t merit discussion, but one published on Wednesday recommended two books — “Animal Farm” and “1984.”

They were required reading for high school English in my day, but they were fiction; a more relevant book would be “The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich,” by William Shirer. One advantage of this book is that you only need to read the first half; we all know how the story ends.
