The Eagles Aerie canceled its 2020 and 2021 plant sales because of the pandemic, but nonetheless raised $8,000 this year to distribute to 12 local charities.
The annual sale normally raises the bulk of the $10,000 to $20,000 the Eagles distributes to local charities each year.
With their motto “People Helping People” in mind, checks for between $500 and $1,000 were mailed to Senior Services/Meals on Wheels, Helping Hand of South Whidbey, Enso House, Hearts and Hammers, Friends of Friends, Readiness to Learn, Whidbey Island Nourishes, Whidbey Homeless Coalition, Good Cheer Food Bank, South Whidbey EMS First Responders, WAIF, Whidbey Island Angels.
