Letter: Housing project would spoil rural charm

Editor,
It was with great sadness that I read the article of April 15 titled “forgotten county lots eyed by realtor” in our Whidbey News-Times”
There is this realtor Mr. Moore who would like to develop a bunch of houses in the serene San de Fuca area. This greedy realtor would totally destroy that country, part of Ebey’s Reserve area. This is nothing but greed to benefit a few already wealthy entrepreneurs. Don’t these greedy people already have made enough money ? Nay, never enough! I says: Leave this part of Whidbey alone!
Look what’s coming to Oak Harbor with that many houses (ugly box cheaply made houses). But wait, these greedy contractors, developers ’ realtors, all they care about is making more money, period. Do we want Whidbey to look like another Mercer Island?
Now I am going to make a prediction, when all those houses are finished, the traffic in that area is going to be horrendous, then the county fathers will say, “oOh my! We must conduct a ‘study’on how to alleviate the many new traffic jams” and then pay some joker to study a ”solution,” to the tune of $200k. All they care about is more ”revenue” and probably accomplish nothing. So sorry folks the horse is already out of the barn.
Wake up people, tell all these greedy people we had enough. But wait! These greedy realtors, developers will say the old line, “We need more affordable housing.” Total bull crap.
Let’s keep Whidbey small, especially around Coupeville.
