The Freeland Water and Sewer District has expanded into the ether.
The district recently launched its new Web site, and new features continue to be added, said Sandy Duncan, administrative assistant for the district. The site is at www.freelandwsd.com.
It offers news items, a year’s worth of meeting schedules and the minutes of previous meetings back through last July. It has a map of the district, rules and regulations, engineering specifications and forms and contact information.
Water district customers will soon be able to pay their bills online, and access payment histories, Duncan said.
Also in the pipeline is helpful information such as what people should do if they encounter a leak, and links to water conservation, cross-connection control and public health agencies.
“We’re excited about it,” Duncan said. “We hope it gets people a little more involved.”
The district serves 438 customers in an area bordering Holmes Harbor with water from two wells near Scenic Road. In July 2007 it purchased the Harbor Hills Water System, including four wells serving 389 customers.
District officials are urging residents of Harbor Hills to vote this summer to annex to the district.
