To the editor:

At the beginning of the school year I am reminded how grateful I am to Dr. Dave Parent for his generous gifts of time and expertise on South Whidbey. He is an amazingly thoughtful veterinarian who has always cared for animals and their people with such kindness.

An aspect of generosity that many community members may not know is his support for our schools as well. He has inspired Langley Middle School students who have interviewed him for science career papers, welcomed apprenticeship students who have job-shadowed at his clinic, and each June has provided a savings bond for an outstanding eighth grade and high school science student.

We are truly fortunate to have Dave Parent not only caring for our animals, but also supporting South Whidbey students.
