SWHS student wins $2,000 scholarship

Colton Sterba, a recent South Whidbey High School graduate, was awarded a $2,000 scholarship from The Fishin’ Club and Freeland ACE Hardware. The Fishin’ Club also awarded a $500 scholarship to an Oak Harbor High School student. Sterba, an avid fisherman, will attend the University of Washington, where he plans to further his education in a fisheries or environmental field.

The Fishin’ Club normally meets the first Thursday of each month, but due to Celebrate America on July 3, its next will be meeting July 10. Members of The Fishin’ Club scholarship committee are board member Wayne Furber, Mary Jane Lungren, Freeland ACE Hardware store manager Kari Gerow, and Fishin’ Club President Kevin Lungren.
