The South Whidbey School Board will hold a special meeting today to talk about the search for a new district superintendent and review the input received during recent meetings with students, staff, parents and community members).

The meeting is from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Feb. 16 in the school board room on the primary school campus at 5476 S. Maxwelton Road.

Representatives of McPherson & Jacobson, the executive search firm hired by the school district to find a replacement for Superintendent Fred McCarthy, who is retiring in June, held a series of meetings earlier this month to help shape the district’s recruitment effort. Board members are expected to talk about the comments received from the public at today’s meeting.

The school board will also hold a workshop meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the school board room.

On the agenda, Dan Poolman will give budget fundamentals; there will be a course change proposal from Rod Merrell, principal of South Whidbey High School and Langley Middle School, and Jamie Boyd, principal of the elementary school, and Scott Mauk and David Pfeiffer, who will talk about graduation requirements. Mauk will also address special education.
