A series of free workshops designed specifically to address senior concerns will be held this month at the Bayview Senior Center.
On Thursday, Jan. 7, the center begins a series for people providing primary care.
The first workshop covers transfers, lifting, supporting, fall prevention, bathing, dressing, incontinence issues, home safety and nutrition.
The workshop on Thursday, Feb. 4 will cover family dynamic relationship issues, communication skills with family and medical care providers, dealing with resistance and role discrepancies.
The next session on Thursday, March 4 will deal with emergency planning should the primary care provider get sick or if there is an immediate change or illness with the person receiving care that requires either temporary or permanent placement or other changes.
On three Saturdays — Jan. 9, Feb. 13 and March 13 — the senior center will offer workshops for care providers to give the best possible support and care to loved ones with Alzheimer’s, a brain injury, memory issues and forms of dementia.
