The Whidbey Crabs’ winning streak came to an end Saturday against West Seattle.

The West Seattle Dodgers had only one loss this season, clubbed the Crabs 12-0 in the first game and held the Crabs to two hits by Connor Antich. Will Simms started the game on the mound for the Crabs, working three innings before leaving in the fourth trailing 1-0. Relievers Charlie Patterson and Connor Antich got wracked in the fifth as the Dodgers tallied nine runs to round out the scoring.

In the second contest, both teams battled early until the Crabs seized an early 2-0 lead in the first. The Dodgers knotted the game in the fourth inning. The Crabs manufactured a run in the fifth which held up for a tight 3-2 victory that ended with a tag out at home plate in the seventh inning. Antich and Peter Jacobs led the Crabs with two hits each, while Ricky Muzzy doubled in one run in the first, and Josiah Sergeant singled in the sixth. Houston Schmutz started the second game going three and two-thirds innings and allowed two runs with seven strikeouts. Muzzy entered the game holding the Dodgers for the remainder of the contest, picking up the victory in relief with five strikeouts.

The Crabs record stands at 15-1. Whidbey’s Pony League baseball team travels to Mountlake Terrace on Wednesday to take on a Maltby team before returning home Saturday and Sunday for back-to-back doubleheaders at the South Whidbey Parks & Recreation field at Community Park.
